Director Quentin Tarantino Takes on Theater!...Plans to Present Play in London's West End as Early as 2027

Hollywood master director Quentin Tarantino (62) has officially announced his entry into the theater world. According to reports from the British daily 'The Times' on the 19th (local time), he plans to present his first play on the stage of London's West End as early as 2027.

Director Tarantino recently appeared on a podcast and stated, "I am preparing a play for the West End stage." He mentioned, "The title has not been decided yet, but the script is complete," adding, "It seems it will be a comedy." He also noted that the production period is expected to take about a year and a half to two years.

Director Tarantino explained that he plans to move to the UK with his family early next year to begin serious production of the play. He said, "If the work is successful, I am considering overseas performances as well."

Debuting in the theater is a completely new challenge for Tarantino. The industry anticipates that when his work hits the stage, it will become one of the most anticipated productions in the West End. He has previously mentioned on American talk shows that "if the play is successful, it could also be made into a movie."

The Times analyzed that the reason Tarantino chose London's West End over New York Broadway may be due to production cost issues.

Andrew Lloyd Webber, a prominent British musical producer, recently expressed skepticism about the plan for actress Rachel Zegler to bring the musical 'Evita', currently performing in the West End, to the Broadway stage. He stated, "It would take a brave person to bring something to Broadway right now."

Tarantino, who debuted in 1992 with the film 〈Reservoir Dogs〉, has established himself as an icon in independent cinema. He won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for 〈Pulp Fiction〉 in 1994 and rose to prominence with works such as the 〈Kill Bill〉 series.

Director Tarantino has publicly declared that he will only make ten films, and 〈Once Upon a Time in Hollywood〉 was his ninth work in 2019.
