The couple's relationship began in July 2023 when Kelce publicly expressed his desire to meet Swift on a podcast. At that time, Kelce revealed that he had tried to give Swift a 'friendship bracelet' with his phone number written on it at her concert but failed. After that, Swift reached out to Kelce first, leading to their meeting.

In an interview with Time magazine, Swift stated, "It all started when Travis adorably confessed his feelings for me on his podcast," adding, "I thought that was really cool." She continued, "Right after that, we started seeing each other and spent quite a bit of time together without anyone knowing," and mentioned, "By the time I went to that first game, we were already a couple."
