Actor Jung Sung-il shared his experiences during the filming of the movie 〈Murderer Report〉.
On the afternoon of the 28th, a press screening and press conference for the movie 〈Murderer Report〉 took place at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall. The press conference was attended by director Jo Young-jun of 〈Murderer Report〉 and lead actors Jo Yeo-jung, Jung Sung-il, and Kim Tae-han, who discussed the film with domestic reporters.
The movie 〈Murderer Report〉 tells the story of veteran reporter Sun-joo (Jo Yeo-jung) who is thirsty for a scoop and requests an interview with psychiatrist Young-hoon (Jung Sung-il) who confesses to a series of murders. 〈Murderer Report〉 opens the door to a new thriller genre called 'close-up thriller' by depicting the tense emotional confrontation between the reporter and the serial killer through its unique subject matter of an interview with a serial killer.
Jung Sung-il, who plays the role of the serial killer Young-hoon, candidly discussed the weight of his character and the vast amount of lines during the press conference. He said, "There were actually many edited parts. The amount of lines was so much that I couldn't help but say I wanted to 'kill' (the director)," recalling the challenges on set with a smile.
In particular, Jung Sung-il revealed that due to the nature of the film, which depicts events occurring over a single day, he had no choice but to memorize all his lines beforehand. "To maintain the tension of that day, I had to memorize the lines in full. That way, the density could be maintained and the energy could last until the end," he explained, adding, "There were many moments of immediate response and exchange on set rather than calculated acting. Thanks to the interactions with actress Jo Yeo-jung, the necessary variations came to life."
The movie 〈Murderer Report〉 will be released in theaters nationwide on September 5 (Friday).
