The representative music platform Melon and K-pop fans are working together to make Seoul greener.
Kakao Entertainment's music platform Melon has recently unveiled the 16th ‘aespa 1st Forest’ at Nanji Hangang Park in Mapo-gu, Seoul, through its eco-friendly project ‘Forest; Trimming’, which creates forests in the name of supported artists, and announced plans to establish the 17th ‘YOUNHA 1st Forest’ at the same location.

‘Forest; Trimming’ is a project that has been providing opportunities since June 2022 for any Melon subscriber to create a forest named after their favorite artist. While using a Melon subscription, simply selecting the name of a favorite artist on the ‘Forest; Trimming’ page allows up to 2% of the monthly payment to be automatically accumulated. Once a total of 20 million won is accumulated for the respective artist, it will be fully donated to the Seoul Environmental Federation to create a forest named after the artist within the city of Seoul.
This forest is a result of achieving the target accumulation amount through the enthusiastic support and active participation of aespa's fandom ‘MY’ and YOUNHA's fandom ‘Y.HOLICS’. Accordingly, Melon, the Seoul Environmental Federation, and the Future Hangang Headquarters of Seoul Special City established the ‘aespa 1st Forest’ at Nanji Hangang Park on the 9th, and the ‘YOUNHA 1st Forest’ is scheduled to be created on October 2nd.
Meanwhile, participation in ‘Forest; Trimming’ can be done by clicking the ‘Forest Trimming’ menu in the shortcut tab on the far right of the Melon app. Fans supporting various genres of artists, including idols, ballads, hip-hop, trot, and indie, are coming together to exert a positive influence.
