Korean Animation 'The Square' Invited to Major Film Festivals, Now News of Jury Prize

The Korean animation 〈The Square〉 has continued its momentum by announcing award news.

The animation 〈The Square〉, produced by the Korean Academy of Film Arts (KAFA), announced that it received the Jury Prize at the 13th War on Screen Film Festival on October 16 (Korean time). It has set another record while being invited to prestigious film festivals around the world, including the 58th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, the 49th São Paulo International Film Festival, and the 51st Seoul Independent Film Festival.

Additionally, 〈The Square〉 has been named a nominee for Best Animation at the 18th Asia Pacific Screen Awards, which will be held in Australia on November 27. There is growing interest in whether it will receive an award at this film festival as well.

Director Kim Bo-sol's feature debut 〈The Square〉 depicts the meeting between a Swedish diplomat residing in Pyongyang and a traffic security officer in Pyongyang. It is currently scheduled to be released in 2026.
