Director Park Chan-wook has won the Best Director award at the 58th Sitges Film Festival for his new film 〈No Other Choice〉, announced by distributor CJ ENM on the 20th.

The Sitges Film Festival, held in Spain, is the largest genre film festival in the world, known for highlighting the artistic value of genre films such as fantasy and horror. It is regarded as one of the top three genre film festivals in the world, alongside the Brussels Fantastic Film Festival in Belgium and the Fantasporto Film Festival in Portugal.

With this award, Director Park Chan-wook continues his long-standing relationship with the Sitges Film Festival. He began with winning the Best Film award for 〈Old Boy〉 in 2004, followed by the FX Work Award for 〈Three, Monsters〉 in the same year, the Best Screenplay award for 〈I'm a Cyborg, but That's OK〉 in 2007, and the Audience Award for 〈The Handmaiden〉 in 2017.

〈No Other Choice〉 is also gaining attention in the international film community. This work achieved the distinction of being invited to the competition section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, marking the first time in 13 years for a Korean film. Additionally, it received the International Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival, recognizing both its artistic merit and popularity.
