On December 13, 2025 (Saturday), the official orchestra concert 〈Friedrich's Funeral〉 will be held at Ewha Womans University Auditorium, featuring the TV animation 『Friedrich's Funeral』.
This performance is the official licensed Seoul concert of the highly talked-about Japanese concert, with Evan Call, the composer of the original animation's music, coming to Korea as a special guest to engage in stage talks and work explanations. The conductor will be Jin Sol, the artistic director of Plagik, who is recognized as a unique presence in the field of contemporary music and subculture fusion performances, presenting a traditional classical stage that harmonizes emotion and artistry.
『Friedrich's Funeral』 is based on the manga serialized in 「Weekly Shonen Sunday」 (Shogakukan), created by Kanemoto Yamada (story) and Tsukasa Abe (art), depicting the journey of the elf wizard Friedreich, who has lived for a thousand years, facing time, emotions, and the finiteness of humanity in a world set after defeating the Demon King. In 2021, it won the Grand Prize at the 「2021 Manga Awards」 and the Newcomer Award at the 「25th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize」, proving both its artistic quality and popularity, with a total of 14 volumes published and cumulative sales surpassing 32 million copies (as of October 2025).
The first season of the TV animation 『Friedrich's Funeral』 aired in Japan from September 2023 to March 2024, achieving exceptional box office success despite being broadcast in late-night slots. It also aired domestically, leaving a deep impression on the Korean public as well as in Japan. The narrative filled with emotional resonance and grand music has received high praise, establishing itself as a 'healing fantasy masterpiece.'
The 〈Friedrich's Funeral〉 Orchestra Concert in Seoul is a stage that organically combines the completeness of a classical concert with the emotional narrative of the animation. By reinterpreting subculture music not merely as fan content but as an art form, it is regarded as a new attempt to break down the boundaries between popular culture and pure art. This performance, where the refined orchestral performance, choir, and visuals come together, will deeply explore the themes of time, memory, and human emotions contained in Friedreich, offering each audience member an 'experience of healing through music.'
The performances will take place on December 13 (Saturday) at 2 PM and 7 PM, with a total of 2 shows. Tickets will be exclusively available through Ticketlink starting at 6 PM on November 19, 2025 (Wednesday). All attendees will receive one 'special ticket limited to the orchestra concert,' and there will be a booth selling 'official concert limited merchandise' on-site, allowing fans to meet the officially licensed limited goods directly.
