Korean Animation 'Gwangjang' Wins 6 Awards at International Film Festivals, Set to Release in January 2026

With invitations to 25 international film festivals and shining as a 6-time award winner, 〈Gwangjang〉 has confirmed its release in January 2026 and unveiled two launch posters.

The film 〈Gwangjang〉 tells the story of the secretary 'Bori', who must leave for her home country, and 'Bokju', who has no choice but to give up a future together, while the interpreter 'Myeongjun' silently watches the two.

Having made its world premiere as an official selection and closing film in the competitive section of the 27th Udine Far East Film Festival, 〈Gwangjang〉 garnered early attention by winning the Jury Award at the 49th Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the only Korean film to receive the main award known as the Contrechamp. Subsequently, 〈Gwangjang〉 proved its solid artistic quality by winning the Best Director Award at the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, the Grand Prize at the 21st Seoul Indie Animation Festival, and the Best Film Award at the 20th Animafest International Animation Film Festival, receiving praise such as, "The delicate mise-en-scène resonating with emotions shows a beautiful advancement in Korean animation" (Jury of the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival), and firmly capturing the attention of global media and critics.
