Global girl group TWICE member Chaeyoung will temporarily halt activities for health reasons. The agency JYP Entertainment announced this on November 20 through their official website, asking for understanding from fans.
Diagnosis of Vasovagal Syncope... "Health is the top priority"
JYP Entertainment stated, "Chaeyoung recently received a diagnosis of vasovagal syncope and has been resting based on examinations and detailed tests by specialists, but has reached the conclusion that additional recovery time is necessary."
The agency reported that after careful consultation, Chaeyoung has decided to temporarily halt activities and focus on treatment, rest, and sufficient recovery. "Currently, Chaeyoung aims for sufficient rest and recovery of her condition until the end of the year, and we inform you that she may participate minimally in future scheduled events or may inevitably be unable to attend due to the judgment that health must be prioritized."
In particular, regarding the scheduled events in Japan, they mentioned "minimal participation or the possibility of unavoidable absence" and requested understanding and cooperation from fans.
Vasovagal syncope is a condition where the vagus nerve reacts excessively due to strong pain, mental shock, stress, fatigue, or lack of sleep, leading to a drop in blood pressure and heart rate, resulting in temporary insufficient blood flow to the brain and loss of consciousness.
