Jamaican reggae musician and actor Jimmy Cliff has passed away at the age of 81. His wife, Latifah Chambers, announced the news of his death through the late artist's official social media account on the 24th.

Chambers stated, "With deep sorrow, I announce that my husband Jimmy Cliff has passed away due to complications from pneumonia."

Cliff gained global recognition by singing the theme song 'I Can See Clearly Now' from the 1993 film 〈Cool Runnings〉(I Can See Clearly Now). He won two Grammy Awards during his lifetime and is known for releasing numerous hit songs, including 'You Can Get It If You Really Want'(You Can Get It If You Really Want).

In 1972, he starred in the Jamaican film 〈The Harder They Come〉(The Harder They Come), where he was recognized for his acting skills. He is also one of the few musicians who received the Meritorious Award from the Jamaican government alongside reggae icon Bob Marley.
