MBC will air a special memorial documentary honoring the late actor Lee Soon-jae, titled 〈Actor Lee Soon-jae, I Am Grateful〉, today at 8:40 PM.
Earlier this year, MBC began producing a documentary summarizing the acting life of actor Lee Soon-jae with his permission. However, due to the rapid deterioration of his health, the documentary's production was halted, and ultimately, the documentary being produced as a tribute was presented to viewers just three days after he passed away.
The late actor Lee Soon-jae debuted in theater and has left behind an unparalleled acting spirit over the past 70 years, with 175 dramas, 150 films, and over 100 plays. However, throughout his 70-year acting career, he received only one acting award. Last year, he won his first acting award for KBS 2TV 〈Barking〉, becoming the oldest recipient in history. This documentary will introduce touching anecdotes about the oldest active actor who, while losing his sight, continued to practice in secret to avoid stopping his acting. It is reported that during the filming of 〈Barking〉, his health had already significantly declined, and he was on the verge of blindness, yet he did not stop rehearsing the script.
Additionally, the last appearance of the late actor, who has been battling illness from his hospital bed since last year, will be revealed for the first time. Even while wearing a patient gown, actor Lee Soon-jae continued to discuss acting and works daily, never losing hope that he would return to the stage one day.
The MBC memorial special documentary 〈Actor Lee Soon-jae, I Am Grateful〉 will air today (28th) at 8:40 PM on Friday.
