Director Yoon Ga-eun's 'The World of Love' Wins Best Film at the 12th Korean Film Producers Association Awards

The Korean Film Producers Association announced on the 1st that director Yoon Ga-eun's 〈The World of Love〉 has been selected as the winner of the Best Film award at the 12th Korean Film Producers Association Awards.

〈The World of Love〉 tells the story of a high school girl named Joo-in (played by Seo Soo-bin) who begins to receive mysterious notes after she alone does not participate in a petition against the release of a sexual offender involving the entire student body.

This Best Film award goes to producers Koo Jung-ah and Kim Se-hoon, while lead actress Seo Soo-bin receives the Best New Actress award.

The Best Director award was given to director Kwak Kyung-taek for his film 〈Firefighter〉, inspired by the 2001 Hongje-dong fire incident.

The Best Actor award went to Lee Byung-hun for his outstanding performances in 〈The Match〉 and 〈No Other Choice〉, while the Best Actress award was won by Lee Hye-young for her role in 〈The Old Woman with the Knife〉.

Lee Byung-hun was recognized for his exceptional acting as Go player Cho Hun-hyeon in 〈The Match〉 and as the desperate breadwinner Mansoo in 〈No Other Choice〉. Lee Hye-young received praise for her overwhelming charisma, expressing both experience and decline through her role as the elderly female killer 'Chogak' in 〈The Old Woman with the Knife〉.

The Best Supporting Actor award went to Kwon Hae-hyo for 〈Bogota: City of the Lost〉, and the Best Supporting Actress award was given to Park Ji-hyun for 〈Hidden Face〉.

The Best Screenplay award went to writer Lim Na-moo for 〈People and Meat〉.

The Best New Director award was jointly awarded to director Lee Ran-hee for 〈The Final Semester〉 and director Jang Byeong-ki for 〈When This Summer is Over〉.

This year's Special Award was given to the film 〈1980 Sabuk〉, which deals with the 1980 Sabuk uprising.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on the 18th at the Jeongdong 1928 Art Center, hosted by actress Kim Gyu-ri.
