The Japanese media production company Gainax has disappeared into history after completing its corporate liquidation.

Gainax entered the liquidation process after filing for bankruptcy around June 2024. Gainax was one of the production companies that had a significant influence in subculture, having released past animations such as 〈Aim for the Top! - GUNBUSTER〉, 〈Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water〉, 〈Neon Genesis Evangelion〉, 〈The Circumstances of That Man and That Woman〉, and 〈Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann〉, as well as the 'Princess Maker' game series.

However, due to the mismanagement of the executives leading to debt accumulation, unpaid creator wages, and allegations of sexual harassment against the former president, the company reached a state where it could not be operated properly, leading to the bankruptcy filing in 2024. According to the announcement at that time, Gainax's debt was said to amount to 380 million yen.

And on December 11, Gainax was dissolved as a corporation after completing all bankruptcy settlements. Hideaki Anno, a former member of Gainax and the owner of the 〈Evangelion〉 franchise, expressed gratitude to Yasuhiko Kamimura, the last representative of Gainax who fulfilled the responsibilities abandoned by the former management, in a statement. With this announcement, Gainax put a period on its 42-year history and disappeared into history.
