〈The Man Who Lives as a King〉 has released its launch trailer ahead of its February 2026 release.
The film 〈The Man Who Lives as a King〉 tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily goes into exile in Cheongnyeongpo in 1457 to revive the village and the young former king who was deposed and exiled. It is the first film in Korean cinema history to focus on the story of Danjong. Director Jang Hang-jun returns with a feature film two years after 〈Rebound〉 and 〈Open the Door〉.
Starring Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do, the trailer showcases various charms of the film. The contrast between Yoo Hae-jin as the village chief Eom Heung-do, who voluntarily goes into exile, and Park Ji-hoon as the deposed Danjong Lee Hong-wi, who suffers from severe psychological distress, stands out. Yoo Ji-tae reveals the weight of power as Han Myung-hoe, while Jeon Mi-do brings vitality to the film with her fresh smile as the court lady Mae-hwa.
〈The Man Who Lives as a King〉 will be released on February 4, 2026, targeting the early theater market.
