⬦ "A Being More Precious Than Myself"… Kim Da-mi Defines Maternal Love
Actor Kim Da-mi, who has shown a diverse acting spectrum from the movie 〈The Witch〉 to the drama 〈Our Beloved Summer〉, is now taking on a new challenge of maternal love. This is through the Netflix SF disaster blockbuster 〈Great Flood〉.
At the production report meeting for 〈Great Flood〉 held on the 16th at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Kim Da-mi said, "Maternal love was a difficult part in choosing this work," adding, "I wondered if I could truly feel a mother's heart and if I could act as if I understood it. Still, I thought I should give it a try," revealing the background of her work selection.

〈Great Flood〉 depicts humanity facing the end of the world as a great flood engulfs them, struggling for survival in an apartment that is sinking underwater. Kim Da-mi plays the role of Anna, a mother raising her 6-year-old son Jae-in (played by Kwon Eun-sung) alone, embarking on a desperate journey to save her son amidst the flood.
Kim Da-mi explained her character, saying, "I loved Jae-in but didn't realize it until I experienced a disaster situation, and I wanted to show the moment when I recognized that my love for Jae-in is immense." Regarding maternal love, she said, "I inferred that it might be the feeling of loving another being more than myself," and added, "What I acted out is just a small part of maternal love, which feels so big and great to me."
⬦ 'Netflix Employee' Park Hae-soo "Fascinated by the Cryptic Script"

Following the drama 〈Bad Relationship〉 and 〈The Price of Confession〉, and the movie 〈Good News〉, Park Hae-soo will present four works on Netflix this year, playing the role of Hee-jo, a member of the personnel security team at the artificial intelligence research institute, expressing his special attachment to the work.
Recalling the first time he read the script, Park Hae-soo said, "It wasn't a script that was generally easy to read. It was written like a code." He added, "I started reading it thinking it was a disaster film, but as I kept reading, I thought, 'What is this?' and 'Is this feasible?'" reflecting on that time.
He continued, "It was a disaster film I had never seen before. I had never encountered a work that follows three characters, so I was very curious, and my attachment grew as I made it," and shared his thoughts on the work, saying, "Although it's an SF disaster blockbuster, I felt a sense of heaviness after watching it to the end."
⬦ Director Kim Byung-woo "Water is Both Disaster and Life… Asks the Origin of Love"

This film, directed by Kim Byung-woo, who directed 〈The Terror Live〉, 〈Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint〉, combines the disaster and SF genres in a complex manner.
Director Kim Byung-woo explained the production background, saying, "The disaster genre and the SF genre are intertwined, and it's a movie where you can enjoy the fun of both genres. I thought this story would be liked not only in Korea but also by many people overseas. That's why I worked with Netflix."
Regarding the title 〈Great Flood〉, he revealed that it contains ambiguous meanings. Director Kim said, "Water can be talked about as a disaster like a water demon, but it is also the source of life," and explained, "Water can take on various forms." He hinted that this word, which well describes the film's genre and situation, would be interpreted differently by the time the film ends.

Director Kim mentioned that the film contains questions he has held for a long time, presenting an element for viewers to consider. He said, "If you remember the question, 'What is love and where does it come from?' you might see the meaning of the film better," and added, "I hope it will be remembered as a mysterious and lovely film."
〈Great Flood〉 features child actor Kwon Eun-sung, who plays Anna's son, along with Jeon Hye-jin, Lee Hak-joo, Park Byung-eun, and other actors. The film will be released on Netflix on the 19th.
