'Travel and Days' Director Sho Miyake's Brilliant Debut Film 'Good for Nothing' Officially Premiering in January!

Sho Miyake, representing the new generation of Japanese cinema, has released his new film 〈Travel and Days〉 which premiered domestically on 12/10 (Wed) and is currently showing with the highest box office in independent art films. His feature debut 〈Good for Nothing〉 has been announced. It was only shown in some mini theaters (art film theaters in Japan) and was not available on online platforms, making this world premiere news a great gift for film fans.

Sho Miyake's first feature film 〈Good for Nothing〉 is set to be released in January 2026 and tells a dreamlike story about three youths who repeatedly lose their way while trying to become adults, wandering through the pure white Sapporo and facing a 'special winter' that was nothing at all. His college project 〈The Spy's Tongue〉 (2009) won the Grand Prize at the 5th CO2 (Cineaste Organization Osaka), which supports the discovery and production of new directors, and he completed his first feature work with the grant. Regarding 〈Good for Nothing〉, director Ryusuke Hamaguchi of 〈Drive My Car〉 stated, "Honestly, I couldn't view it too coldly. It's not just empty words; I thought, 'It's not always pleasant to watch the work of a much more talented young person than myself.'" He highly praised Sho Miyake's talent and strongly recommended it as a must-see film to watch other works by Sho Miyake.
