Korea Entertainment Management Association Issues Strong Warning on Park Na-rae Incident: "Industry Order Disrupted... Thorough Investigation Needed"

The Korea Entertainment Management Association (KEMA) has issued an unusually strong statement regarding the controversy surrounding comedian Park Na-rae's manager abuse and illegal medical practices, condemning Park Na-rae's 'abuse of power' and 'evasion of responsibility'.

The Disciplinary Committee of KEMA stated in an official statement on the 17th, "A series of actions by Park Na-rae undermines the good customs and order of the popular culture and arts industry and is a serious matter that hinders the development of the industry."

The committee strongly criticized Park Na-rae's response to the controversy regarding managers' lack of enrollment in the four major insurances. The committee defined this as illegal and negative evasion of responsibility, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation and strict punishment regarding the related issues.

Regarding the so-called 'abuse of power' allegations, including coercion of personal errands, verbal abuse, and physical assault, the committee defined it as "a chronic bad habit that must be eradicated in the entertainment industry." The committee emphasized, "If these actions are confirmed as true, we will take all possible strong measures at the association level."

In particular, the committee emphasized the responsibility of entertainers as public figures, pointing out that "entertainers who generate income and activities through public interest and love have a significant social responsibility corresponding to that." It also added, "Continuing entertainment activities without sufficient self-reflection and responsible behavior should be refrained from."

The Disciplinary Committee, established in 2009, is a permanent special organization of KEMA that performs the role of mediation and arbitration in disputes within the industry.
