Actress Choi Soo-young transforms into a 'fan lawyer' who struggles to protect idols. At the production presentation of the Genie TV·ENA Monday-Tuesday drama 〈Idol Eye〉 held at D-Cube City The Saint in Sindorim, Guro-gu, Seoul on the 16th, Choi Soo-young revealed the background of her work selection.
Choi Soo-young said, "I always wanted to try a lawyer role," adding, "The script was fun, but I was attracted to it because it was a lawyer role." She explained, "Memorizing legal terms wasn't easy, but there's an appeal in the profession where the outcome depends on how I defend someone with confidence."
⬦ "Acting as a lawyer like Jung Kyung-ho? It's a different vibe"
〈Idol Eye〉 depicts the story of Maeng Se-na (played by Choi Soo-young), a star lawyer and a passionate fan of idols, who takes on a case to prove the innocence of her favorite idol, Doraik (played by Kim Jae-young), who is accused of murder.
Choi Soo-young's real-life boyfriend, actor Jung Kyung-ho, is currently playing a lawyer with a background as a judge in the tvN drama 〈Pro Bono〉, so she ended up taking on a lawyer role in a different work at the same time. Regarding this, she said, "(The two works) have different genres and vibes," and added, "This drama is not focused on courtroom scenes. I hope the focus is on the time spent with Raik."

⬦ Girls' Generation vibe is still there... 'One-point lesson' for Kim Jae-young
Choi Soo-young, who is actually from the girl group Girls' Generation, did not hold back on giving advice to Kim Jae-young, who plays an idol in the drama. Kim Jae-young said, "While watching me sing, she pointed out that I need to look at the camera more, smile, and breathe, checking all the points," adding, "So I think it came out more realistically."
Choi Soo-young revealed that while playing the role of Maeng Se-na, a fan of idols, she thought a lot about her own fans. She said, "The existence I thought about the most while preparing for this work was the fans," and added, "The fact that they look at me from below the stage and fervently wish for my happiness is touching and heartwarming."
She continued, "Perhaps fans know me better than the people around me," and added, "I thought they are the ones who fully believe in me 100%. Even when facing Raik as a suspect, I was confident that 'there's no one who can defend you better than me.'"
Director Lee Kwang-young explained the reason for casting Choi Soo-young as a fan rather than an idol, saying, "(Choi Soo-young) may seem aloof on the outside, but she was really funny in a past variety show," and added, "The key to the role of Maeng Se-na is 'on-off.' We were looking for someone who could switch between a competent lawyer and a fan, and Soo-young came to mind."

⬦ Kim Jae-young "I was inspired by Byun Woo-seok's 'Shower'... My goal is to enter the music charts"
Regarding the background of casting Kim Jae-young for the idol role, it was said, "Kim Jae-young was often seen in genre works before, but in reality, he has a lot of charm like an idol, is cute, and is honest in expressing emotions," and added, "He actually sings very well, so he handled all the songs without a double."
Kim Jae-young mentioned the drama 〈Carrying the Sunlight〉 in which his close friend Byun Woo-seok appeared, confessing that he hopes to gain popularity as an idol. He said, "I watched Byun Woo-seok's 'Shower' video on my way here today. I thought, 'Me too?', 'Maybe?' and laughed, adding, "I hope Raik enters the music charts."
〈Idol Eye〉 will be first released on the 22nd at 10 PM through Genie TV and ENA.
