The first feature film by director Sho Miyake, 〈Good for Nothing〉, is set to be released in January 2026. It tells a dreamlike story of three young adults who, while trying to become adults, repeatedly lose their way as they wander through the pure white Sapporo, facing a 'special winter' that was nothing at all. His university project 〈The Spy's Tongue〉 (2009) won the Grand Prize at the 5th CO2 (Cineaste Organization Osaka), which supports the discovery and production of new directors, allowing him to complete his first feature film with the grant. Regarding 〈Good for Nothing〉, director Ryusuke Hamaguchi of 〈Drive My Car〉 stated, "To be honest, I couldn't view it very objectively. It's not just empty words; I thought, 'It's not always pleasant to be watching the work of someone much more talented than me.'" He highly praised Sho Miyake's talent and strongly recommended it as a must-see film to watch other works by director Sho Miyake. Additionally, actor Ryo Kase, who is well-known in Korea for his role in Hong Sang-soo's film 〈Hill of Freedom〉, praised, "It seems that director Sho Miyake has sincerely questioned himself, 'Now, why am I deliberately making a film?' It felt like he was making a film as a new beginning, which stirred my heart."

Before the official release, the Tumblbug funding project for 〈Good for Nothing〉 started on 12/14 (Sunday). This Tumblbug project is for the publication of the book 'Good for Nothing, 10 Questions', which compiles emails exchanged between director Ryusuke Hamaguchi and director Sho Miyake 15 years ago. After watching 〈Good for Nothing〉, director Ryusuke Hamaguchi sent 10 questions to director Sho Miyake, and they shared deep and intimate stories about the film. The original text is fully included in the book, along with essays by Sho Miyake and reviews from critic Tetsuya Miura. Additionally, rewards include badges and sweatshirts that allow you to keep memorable scenes from the film. Director Sho Miyake began to gain attention with his second feature film and first theatrical release, 〈Playback〉 (2012), which was invited to compete at the 65th Locarno Film Festival. Following that, 〈Your Bird Can Sing〉 (2018), 〈If You Look Into Your Eyes〉 (2022), and 〈All of Dawn〉 (2024) were consecutively invited to the Berlin International Film Festival, and his new work 〈Travel and Days〉 (2025) won the Golden Leopard Award at the 78th Locarno Film Festival. He is recognized as a representative director of the new generation of Japanese cinema alongside Ryusuke Hamaguchi of 〈Drive My Car〉, Koji Fukada of 〈Love Life〉, and Kohei Igarashi of 〈Super Happy Forever〉. As he announces the official release and the Tumblbug funding project, anticipation for director Sho Miyake's first feature film 〈Good for Nothing〉 is set to rise, with a release scheduled for January 2026.
