The living history of American reality TV, CBS 'Survivor' is returning for its 50th season on an unprecedented scale. A 'war of legends' encompassing 25 years of history has been announced.
On the 17th (local time), during the finale of 'Survivor 49', host Jeff Probst revealed the final roster and groundbreaking format of the monumental 'Survivor 50'. This season will feature the largest number of participants in the series' history, with 24 contestants competing, kicking off with a 3-hour special broadcast on February 25, 2026.
◆ From Season 1 to 49... 'Avengers-level' lineup
This season is the first All-Star season since 2020's 'Winners at War'. The lineup is truly spectacular. Icon Jenna Lewis from Season 1, 'Queen of the Underdogs' Cirie Fields, 'Ozzy' Ozzy Lusth, 'Coach' Benjamin Wade, and original idol Colby Donaldson are returning, fulfilling fans' long-held wishes for old-school legends. Notably, the inclusion of Mike White, creator of HBO's 'The White Lotus' and runner-up of 'Survivor: David vs. Goliath', is generating buzz. Additionally, the winner of the recently concluded Season 49, Savanah Louie, and runner-up Rizzo Belovic will join immediately, igniting a clash between the old and new.
◆ "Should I give an idol or not?"... Destiny is in the hands of the fans
The subtitle for Season 50 is 'In the Hands of the Fans'. This means that fans will directly intervene in the flow of the game, beyond just watching. According to the production team, fans will decide key rules through voting, including ▲ the presence of hidden immunity idols ▲ whether to maintain the Final 4 fire-making challenge ▲ the location of the winner announcement (LA Live vs. Fiji Jungle). Contestants will not know the results until they are brought to the field, creating extreme tension.
◆ Why is MrBeast there?
The released trailer resembled a blockbuster movie. Cameo appearances by YouTube king MrBeast and country singer Zac Brown have been confirmed, and 'Easter eggs' related to Jimmy Fallon and Billie Eilish have also sparked fans' curiosity. Additionally, CBS is holding a large-scale treasure hunt event, hiding 50 immunity idols across all 50 states in the U.S. to celebrate the season launch, providing fans with an experience that feels like participating in the actual game.
Jeff Probst stated, "Survivor has been a journey of facing the unknown and testing one's limits for the past 25 years," adding, "This season is a tribute to the fans who have accompanied us on that journey."
