The Korean launch trailer for 〈5 Centimeters Per Second〉, adapted from Makoto Shinkai's animation, has been released.
〈5 Centimeters Per Second〉 is a live-action adaptation of the animated film by director Makoto Shinkai, directed by Yoshiyuki Okuyama of 〈At the Bench〉. Hokuto Matsumura, a member of the Japanese boy group 'SixTONES' and an actor, plays the lead role of Takaki, while Mitsuki Takahata, who appeared in 〈Monster〉 and 〈National Treasure〉, plays Takaki's first love, Akari.
The Korean launch poster and trailer released on December 24 capture the unique calmness of 〈5 Centimeters Per Second〉. The images of the launch poster, which recreate iconic scenes from the animation, combine the boy's image captioned 'Unreachable Time, Unfinished Love' and the girl's image captioned 'Unreachable Love, Unfulfilled Heart', raising expectations for the beautiful and poignant emotions that the incomplete first love romance 〈5 Centimeters Per Second〉 will deliver. Additionally, the launch trailer, which was also released, captures very ordinary moments, revealing the unique sentiment of 〈5 Centimeters Per Second〉 that sparkles within them.
〈5 Centimeters Per Second〉 met Korean audiences at the Busan International Film Festival last October and will be released in theaters on February 25, 2026.
