‘Black and White Chef 2’ Son Jong-won Eliminated Major Spoiler? Cooking Monster Name Tag Controversy

The results of the competition between Son Jong-won and the Cooking Monster will be revealed in the next episode on January 6.

In ‘Black and White Chef 2’, the White Spoon team defeated the Black Spoon team. On December 30, the 8th, 9th, and 10th episodes were released consecutively on Netflix’s ‘Black and White Chef 2’, starting with the results of the 3rd round team competition. The final judge, Imo Kase 1, chose the White Spoon, confirming the final score of 158 to 142, resulting in the victory of the White Spoon team, who survived with a 16-point margin. The Black Spoon team faced elimination due to their final defeat, but in the subsequent loser revival round ‘Last Box’, the Cooking Monster and Yoon Joo-mo survived under the rule of presenting the best dish that maximizes the flavor of just one main ingredient.

Finally, in episode 10, the top 7 competition among chefs to advance to the semifinals unfolded. Previously, Huh Deok-juk, Jung Ho-young, Seon Jae-mun, and Choi Kang-rok won in succession, creating a situation where only one of Son Jong-won and the Cooking Monster could pass. Judge Baek Jong-won raised Son Jong-won’s hand, but An Sung-jae’s choice was not revealed, and the program ended. This means that the winner between Son Jong-won and the Cooking Monster will only be determined in episode 11, which will be released on January 6. However, online, there are growing suspicions of spoilers as posts claim that the Cooking Monster’s name tag, which was interviewed by the production team, has already revealed the outcome. It is said that the Cooking Monster’s real name has been exposed. This has sparked a major spoiler controversy as the season progresses.

Real name (left) and nickname, the Cooking Monster's different name tags

Unlike the White Spoon, the Black Spoon, which uses a nickname, can only reveal their real name if they advance to the finals. However, in the interview scene of the Cooking Monster that appeared in episode 9, the real name was exposed instead of the nickname. In particular, the case of the Black Spoon Napoli Mafia participating with their real name ‘Kwon Seong-jun’ instead of a nickname in the previous season 1 finals was mentioned again, igniting controversy. If season 2 continues in the same manner as the previous season until the end, these spoiler suspicions become valid. Therefore, many are interpreting through social media and communities that the Cooking Monster has defeated Son Jong-won and risen to the top 7. On the other hand, there are opinions that this could be a deliberate production to confuse the results by taking advantage of the previous season's controversy.

Meanwhile, ‘Black and White Chef 2’ has received intense attention, ranking first in the non-drama category of TV-OTT integrated buzz for two consecutive weeks. The results of the competition between Son Jong-won and the Cooking Monster will be revealed in the next episode on January 6.
