The Jeonju International Film Festival announced that it will release 11 overseas works produced and invested through the Jeonju Cinema Project via the art film specialized OTT service ‘Collectio’.
The Jeonju Cinema Project is a representative program that discovers creative and challenging low-budget feature films from both domestic and international sources, with the Jeonju International Film Festival directly participating in production and investment. Since its launch in 2014, it has showcased a total of 38 works, including 24 domestic and 14 overseas films, by 2025. The selected works from the Jeonju Cinema Project have been invited to and won awards at prestigious film festivals, including the Jeonju International Film Festival, establishing itself as a unique production and investment brand that attracts global attention in the film industry.
Collectio is a classic and art film specialized OTT service launched in 2023 by the overseas art film import and distribution company M&M International Co., Ltd. It serves as a representative art film library in Korea, introducing a variety of auteur films from classic art films to contemporary art house films, providing works with rarity and artistic value through stable licensing and high-quality video, and conveying the charm of art films to new audiences.
The works released through Collectio are 11 overseas films from the Jeonju Cinema Project produced and invested by the Jeonju International Film Festival from 2018 to 2024, which will be sequentially available starting January 29 (Thursday). These works have not been officially released in Korea after screening at the Jeonju International Film Festival, making them hidden masterpieces that are difficult for audiences to access, and this release is expected to provide an opportunity to revisit them.
Major works include 〈The Children of Isadora〉 by director Damien Manivel, who won the Best Director Award in the ‘International Competition’ section at the 2019 Locarno International Film Festival, and 〈Samsara〉 by director Loïs Patin, which received a Special Jury Award in the ‘Encounters’ competition section aimed at discovering and nurturing independent and innovative works at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2023, as well as 〈Direct Action〉 by directors Ben Russell and Guillaume Cairo, which won the Best Work Award in 2024, among various other works that are drawing audience anticipation.
The 27th Jeonju International Film Festival, which is generating excitement by showcasing works produced and invested through the Jeonju Cinema Project on the OTT platform, will be held for 10 days from April 29 (Wednesday) to May 8 (Friday), 2026, in the Jeonju area.
