Korean-American director Maggie Kang's animation 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 has been nominated in 2 categories at the 98th Academy Awards, challenging for the Oscar trophy.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on the 22nd (local time) that 〈K-Pop Demon Hunters〉 has been selected as a nominee for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. The song 'Golden' will compete in the Best Original Song category.

In the Best Animated Feature category, it will compete against 4 films including 〈Zootopia 2〉, 〈Elio〉, 〈Little Amelie〉, and 〈Arco〉. Previously, on January 11, it won the Best Animated Feature at the Golden Globe Awards, beating out 〈Zootopia 2〉 and 〈Elio〉, which adds weight to its Oscar winning potential.

Yorgos Lanthimos's 〈Bocognia〉, a remake of Jang Joon-hwan's 〈Save the Green Planet〉 (2003), has been nominated in 4 categories including Best Picture, Best Actress (Emma Stone), Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score.

The 98th Academy Awards will be held on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
