MBC, The Era of Weathercasters Ends and Transition to Weather and Climate Experts

Due to MBC's transformation, all weathercasters affiliated with MBC have left the broadcasting station.

Ahead of the introduction of the 'Weather and Climate Expert System' on February 15, MBC terminated contracts with its weathercasters on February 8. This system reform was decided by MBC on September 15, 2025, following the tragic incident involving the late Oh Yoanna, who left a note revealing workplace harassment before her passing. At that time, MBC announced the abolition of the freelance weathercaster system and stated that it would hire full-time weather and climate experts.

Starting from December 2025, MBC began hiring weather and climate experts and ended contracts with all existing weathercasters as of February 8. Consequently, Kim Chae-rim, a fellow weathercaster of the late Oh Yoanna, conveyed her final broadcast greetings through social media, drawing public attention to MBC's new direction.

MBC announced that the newly hired weather and climate experts began their first day of work on February 9. In addition to the roles of the previous weathercasters, they will be responsible for reporting, appearances, and content creation, aiming to provide viewers with more professional weather and climate information.
