CJ ENM announced on the 10th through a press release that it has launched the 'AI Content Alliance' in collaboration with AI small production companies and educational institutions to build an AI content industry ecosystem. As the entire content production, distribution, and consumption landscape is rapidly being reshaped around AI technology, this alliance is noteworthy as the first privately-led cooperation model in Korea aimed at fostering a globally competitive AI content industry.
The launch event held on February 9 at the CJ ENM Center in Sangam-dong was attended by Kim Jae-hyun, Director of the Cultural Media Industry Division of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with 13 companies, including emerging firms that have gained recognition by winning awards at domestic and international AI film festivals, and long-established content production companies, as well as 5 educational institutions focused on nurturing talent in the AI content media field. In the future, the plan is to gradually expand participation to domestic and international media and technology companies.
In his speech, Kim Jae-hyun emphasized that "the AI Content Alliance is a starting point for seeking new creative opportunities by combining AI content technology and content, aiming to leap forward as a global AI content hub," and stated, "We will establish an institutional foundation that supports private innovation through timely support and investment, fostering cooperation and a virtuous cycle."
The participating companies agreed to establish a virtuous ecosystem across the industry through a cooperative structure that organically connects content production, technology, distribution, talent, and policy, and to lay a joint foundation for entering the global market. In particular, they recognize AI content as a key driver that goes beyond mere technological adoption, reshaping the entire creative process and industry structure, and aim to accumulate tangible results through public-private-academic cooperation.
Through this alliance, CJ ENM plans to accelerate field-centered AI content experiments and joint project promotion, establishing a cooperative model where small production companies and educational institutions can grow together, thereby laying the foundation for sustainable growth in the AI content industry.
The AI Content Alliance will promote joint activities centered on five cooperative tasks: △Expanding differentiated AI content production △Specialized technology R&D △Nurturing professional talent △Expanding domestic and international distribution platforms △Creating a policy foundation. In the first half of the year, they plan to design a talent development program optimized for the AI industry through a regular consultation body between industry and academia, to be opened at educational institutions in the second half of the year. Joint production projects are set to kick off in the second half of the year, with regular meetings such as workshops to match participating companies.
Yoon Sang-hyun, CEO of CJ ENM, stated, "Behind the K-content industry, which leads the global market, lies a balanced ecosystem built on the concerns and will of various industry players," and added, "Through this alliance, CJ ENM will swiftly create a cooperative AI content ecosystem that connects production, technology, distribution, talent, and policy, contributing to Korea's leap as an 'AI Cultural Power.'"
