As the movie 〈The King's Affection〉is on the verge of surpassing 10 million viewers, director Jang Hang-jun expressed his joy and gratitude.

On the 6th, through the distributor Showbox, director Jang stated, "This is a situation I have never imagined, and my family and I are both happy yet cautious," adding, "When something good happens, I feel like there will also be something bad, so everything feels a bit cautious."

He also shared particularly impressive reactions from audiences who watched the film. Director Jang said, "They gave so many good comments," and noted, "The review that said, 'Entering as an audience and coming out as a citizen' was impressive, and the comment that 'Filled the gaps of history with warmth' was also nice and appreciated."

〈The King's Affection〉is a story about the deposed King Danjong Lee Hong-wi (played by Park Ji-hoon) who goes to his place of exile in Yeongwol, Gangwon-do, and spends the last period of his life mingling with the villagers. While based on historical events such as the deposition and exile of King Danjong, the time spent with the village residents, including the village chief Eom Heung-do (played by Yoo Hae-jin), is filled with cinematic imagination.

Director Jang Hang-jun analyzed, "I think many people were moved by the strong image of King Danjong gradually growing and trying to live as a human being."

The value he wants to convey to overseas audiences experiencing Korean historical films is 'meaning (意義)'. Director Jang stated, "(Meaning) is the thought of doing the right thing at the expense of my own interests," and added, "I hope you will think about the meaning that people in the past wanted to uphold."

Regarding future plans, director Jang mentioned, "I plan to prepare for the next project among the works I am currently reviewing, and I think I will be busy preparing for the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival in September," expressing his intention to also take on the role of executive chairman.
