According to a report by MBN the previous day, the family of the writer who penned the script for the past drama 〈Eom Heung-do〉 has reportedly demanded an explanation from the production company, claiming that the main settings and content of 〈The King's Warden〉 are similar to the script of their deceased father.

The film 〈The King's Warden〉 by director Jang Hang-jun tells the story of the deposed King Danjong Lee Hong-wi (played by Park Ji-hoon) spending his final days in exile in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, interacting with the village chief Eom Heung-do (played by Yoo Hae-jin) and the villagers. While the deposition and exile of Danjong follow historical facts, the relationship between Eom Heung-do and Danjong, as well as the interactions with the villagers, are filled with cinematic imagination.
