Disney+ original series 〈The Royal Family of the 21st Century〉 is set to premiere on April 10. Ahead of the release, the series unveiled character posters capturing the inner worlds of four key figures who will shake the royal court and the business world of South Korea. With the distinctive premise of an “21st-century constitutional monarchy,” attention is focused on how these people—each clashing with different desires and convictions—relate to one another.
#1. “I’ll win, even if I have to stoop to anything” | Seong Hee-joo, CEO of Castle Beauty (IU)

Seong Hee-joo, one of the most talked-about figures in the corporate world, reveals a fierce competitive drive hidden behind an elegant look. Though he seems to have everything, he has long run up against the limits of his commoner status. To break through that barrier, he makes an audacious move: a contract marriage with Prince Ian. IU brings to life Seong Hee-joo’s powerful inner longing—loneliness concealed beneath all the glamour, and an unyielding desire to never lose control—while also promising yet another unforgettable character performance.
#2. “Do you think there’s a season for hunting?” | Prince Ian, the second son of the royal family (Byeon Woo-seok)

Prince Ian radiates overwhelming charisma. He is a tough survivor who has endured and made his way through the ruthless order of the royal household. He receives the support of the public, but because of his position as the “second son,” he is constantly kept in check. Now, he confronts changes in the emotions he had firmly shut away—through his contract marriage with Seong Hee-joo, the choice he made to change his fate. Byeon Woo-seok will unveil a fresh acting transformation with a restrained emotional arc and a sharp, penetrating gaze.
#3. “Let’s do it. After all, it’s probably just a happening” | Prime Minister Min Jung-woo (No Sang-hyun)

Prime Minister Min Jung-woo shows the face of a cold-blooded realist. As the eldest son of a political dynasty, he has a perfect background and abilities. Even after hearing the news of his close friend Prince Ian’s marriage to his junior Seong Hee-joo, he dismisses it as a mere “blip,” maintaining an easygoing attitude. However, in the face of the unforeseen rift their marriage brings, his struggle between power and emotion is expected to become another source of tension in the story.
#4. “Is there any place for happiness in a royal wedding?” | Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang (Kong Seung-yeon)

Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang, who protects the heart of the royal court, holds a cool decisiveness beneath her dignified presence. Prioritizing the royal household’s order and the preservation of her son’s throne over personal happiness, she faces a sudden variable: the marriage between Prince Ian and Seong Hee-joo. Kong Seung-yeon has completed the commanding presence of the Queen Dowager—delivering sharp judgment while navigating a precarious power structure.
