Actor Park Jung-min received a Minister’s Commendation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare for his contributions to improving cultural access rights for people with disabilities and promoting their welfare on the occasion of the 46th Day for Persons with Disabilities.

According to the Korea Foundation for Persons with Disabilities on the 20th, Park Jung-min received a Minister’s Commendation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare on April 20 in observance of the 46th Day for Persons with Disabilities. This commendation is awarded to those who have devoted themselves to advancing the human rights of people with disabilities and promoting their welfare. Park Jung-min’s sincerity—going beyond simple financial support or a one-time donation—was recognized for his steady efforts to break down the real cultural barriers that people with disabilities face.

Having long shown deep interest in those who are marginalized, he established the publishing company “Mu-je” himself for people who find it difficult to read, including his father who is visually impaired. Through the publishing company, which prioritizes the production of audiobooks, he produced the novel “First Summer, Wanju.” Along with the audiobook, he donated all related proceeds in full, practicing a virtuous cycle of sharing and becoming a commendable example to society.

At screenings of the film “Smuggling” in which he appeared and the musical “Life of Pi,” he invited people with visual impairments and their families at his own expense, providing practical opportunities to enjoy culture. The Korea Foundation for Persons with Disabilities said that before the invitations, Park Jung-min first inquired about how people with visual impairments could attend, allowing them to provide performance information in advance in braille and text files. The foundation also expressed deep gratitude for Park Jung-min’s careful consideration—always putting people with disabilities first—even throughout the donation process.
