Hou Hsiao-hsien x Tony Leung Masterpiece 'A City of Sadness' Returns in 4K…Meet It with a Premiere GV on May 5

Director Hou Hsiao-hsien's masterpiece 〈A City of Sadness〉 arrives in Korean theaters on May 6 after a recent 4K remaster.

Set against Taiwan's historic upheaval, the film presents the tragedy of one family in a realistic, grounded way, and to this day continues to be widely loved for director Hou Hsiao-hsien's filmmaking and Tony Leung's outstanding performance.

With 〈A City of Sadness〉 releasing the day after, on May 5, a Premiere GV is being arranged to let audiences enjoy the film even more fully. The Premiere GV hosted by CinePlay editor-in-chief Seongcheol Joo and film journalist Hwa-jeong Lee is expected to be a precious chance to experience, first and foremost, the masterwork of director Hou Hsiao-hsien and actor Tony Leung—along with in-depth commentary.

On Tuesday, May 5 at 6:30 PM, 〈A City of Sadness〉 will hold a Premiere GV at CGV Yeongdeungpo Time Square, with the film releasing on May 6.
