Lamiran x Ire ‘Strange Snack Shop: Zheontang’ Release Date in May Confirmed! Teaser Poster Revealed!

Depicts a magical story that unfolds as lucky coin–carrying customers begin to visit ‘Jeoncheondang,’ a snack shop that grants wishes.

〈Strange Snack Shop: Jeoncheondang〉 is a fantasy drama that portrays a magical tale set in motion when customers with lucky coins come to the wish-granting snack shop ‘Jeoncheondang.’ It was produced as live-action in Korea, will be released in theaters in May, and is expected to be unveiled in a 12-episode series in the second half of the year.

The eponymous bestseller, which sold more than 11 million copies worldwide and over 2 million copies in Korea, is a mega-hit that captivated both children and adults through an irresistibly charming and unique world centered on a mysterious, odd snack shop that grants wishes with lucky coins. In this film adaptation, the original’s charming and distinctive world has been brought to the screen, perfectly realizing not only a story that sparks curiosity, but also the mysterious Jeoncheondang, the strange Hwaangdang, and even the astonishing magic snacks—completing an enthralling world and reinventing itself as a K-family movie that will captivate all generations.

In particular, Lamiran, an irreplaceable actress who completes a character with a uniquely unmistakable presence, takes on the role of Jeoncheondang’s mysterious owner, ‘Hongja,’ showcasing her enigmatic yet kindhearted charm. ‘Ire,’ a performer who overwhelms the screen with dense acting talent, joins as the owner of Hwaangdang, which threatens Jeoncheondang, and stages a tense acting showdown with Lamiran based on her solid inner craft. Joining them is director Park Bong-seop, who has proven his fantasy direction through the drama [Gyeong-ib-i-loun Somun], bringing the imagination of the mega-hit original onto the screen and completing a well-made fantasy drama.

The teaser poster unveiled this time draws attention with ‘Hongja’ (Lamiran), with her silver hair, greeting guests with a warm yet oddly intriguing smile. The image of Jeoncheondang’s mascot by her side and the butler cat that leads guests to Jeoncheondang also heightens curiosity. In particular, the Jeoncheondang scene where warmth and weirdness coexist behind them seems to have carried over the original’s distinctive atmosphere exactly, further boosting expectations for the film. And the tagline, “Welcome, lucky guest!”, sparks curiosity about the story of the character who will come to find Jeoncheondang.
