“The WONDERfools” Kim Hae-sook, Son Hyun-joo, and Jeong Yi-seo, Choi Yoon-ji, Bae Na-ra stills revealed!

You can clearly feel the love of Kim Jeon-bok (Kim Hae-sook) for her one and only granddaughter, Eun-chae-ni (Park Eun-bin), as they cling to each other with tender affection.

At the end of the century in 1999, 〈The WONDERfools〉—a comedic adventure about local nobodies who unexpectedly gain superpowers and bravely fight villains threatening peace to protect the world—has unveiled character stills of the three-person lineup: “Kim Jeon-bok,” “Ha Won-do,” and “Bunderkinder.”

The released stills tease the stories of other characters inside 〈The WONDERfools〉 who are staying in Hae-sung City for their own reasons and purposes, pulling attention in right away. First, in the still of “Kim Jeon-bok” (Kim Hae-sook) holding “Eun-chae-ni” (Park Eun-bin) with heartfelt warmth, you can vividly sense his affection and love for his one and only granddaughter. In any danger, keeping “Chae-ni” safe is his top priority—so while he appears to be a caring grandmother who only wants her granddaughter to be healthy, he also has a twist-filled past from being known as “King Jeon-bok,” once reigning over the Myeong-dong private lending business, which promises to add fun to the drama. Meanwhile, the still of “Ha Won-do” in an underground research lab raises curiosity about what other project he is planning as he returns to Hae-sung City again—he is the chief director of the “Bunderkinder Project,” where superpowers were studied in secret in the past. The cold eyes of “Ha Won-do” (Son Hyun-joo), as if he’s threatening someone, make you anticipate the kind of threat he may cast over Hae-sung City.

On top of that, the stills of the three “Bunderkinder” members—“Seok Joo-ran” (Jeong Yi-seo), “Seok Ho-ran” (Choi Yoon-ji), and “Kim Pal-ho” (Bae Na-ra)—who call “Ha Won-do” their father and gained their superpowers after undergoing experiments under him in the past, also spark interest. In “Seok Joo-ran’s” look, full of mystery, you can’t help but wonder who she’s staring at—she has the power to brainwash anyone so that, once she decides, she can control them however she wants.

In the still of “Seok Ho-ran,” who has superpowers that plant hallucinations in people, the one of his eyes that shines with white light creates an air of mystery while also heightening curiosity about what kind of aftereffects his abilities might bring. And then there is “Kim Pal-ho,” the acting leader of “Bunderkinder,” who has the superpower to control gravity—he is expected to move even more proactively than anyone else to carry out “Ha Won-do’s” dark plans, adding unpredictable fun.

With refined direction and witty dialogue, along with a one-of-a-kind cast delivering a fresh comedic ensemble, 〈The WONDERfools〉 will captivate viewers around the world and is set to be released exclusively on Netflix on May 15 (Friday).
