A Weighty Presence Revealed Under Tight Security

'Park Chan-wook' director’s Hollywood new film 'The Brigands of Rattlecreek' finally made its first global appearance at the 79th 'Cannes International Film Festival' Film Market. On the 19th (local time), a poster for the Western was prominently displayed at a special booth of overseas sales company '193'.

Set against a crimson twilight sky, the poster casts the shadows of three men, creating a mood that is both typical and intensely evocative of a Western. The current poster has not yet been officially revealed to the public, and '193' is maintaining strict security measures, blocking information access for buyers and reporters alike, and strictly prohibiting photo-taking inside the booth.

An $8.9 Billion Investment and an Ultra-Premium Global Casting Lineup

'The Brigands of Rattlecreek' is a blood-red Western that unfolds a tale of revenge and retribution in a time of frontier expansion. Based on the screenplay written by 'Craig Zahler', 'Park Chan-wook' personally spearheads the adaptation and directs.

The casting lineup is overwhelming. Leading the way is an Academy Award-winning Best Actor 'Matthew McConaughey', joined by 'Pedro Pascal' and 'Austin Butler'. On top of that, 'Tang Wei', who proved perfect synergy with 'Decision to Leave', has also joined, completing a truly high-profile ensemble. This is a blockbuster-level epic with a total production budget of about $60 million (approximately 88.9 billion won).

The World’s Largest Film Market Fuels K-Movie Sales

Meanwhile, the world’s largest 'Cannes Film Market' runs until the 20th, three days before the festival officially closes. This year, around 16,000 film industry participants are taking part, and more than 4,000 works are being actively traded. Major domestic investment and distribution companies are also joining in large numbers, pouring their full efforts into the global sales of Korean films.
