Gong Myung said he focused on facial expressions to bring out his distinctive character in 〈Husbands in Action〉.
Speaking with Cineplay in Seoul's Jongno District on June 22, Gong Myung discussed his role in Netflix's 〈Husbands in Action〉. Released on Netflix on June 19, 〈Husbands in Action〉 is a comedy action film about an ex-husband and a current husband who unexpectedly join forces to rescue a wife kidnapped by a criminal gang. In the film, Gong Myung plays Min-seok, a young, handsome veterinarian and the current husband of Si-nae (Kang Han-na). Min-seok is a character with an unexpected charm who enjoys thrilling extreme sports and has a fiery passion that drives him to take the lead and plunge into danger to protect his wife.
Viewers have taken notice of Gong Myung's so-called 'clear-eyed maniac' persona in 〈Husbands in Action〉. On that style of facial acting, Gong Myung said, "Unlike Choong-sik's (Jin Sun-kyu) action scenes, Min-seok's were more car-based than physical stunts. So I felt I had to show more through my expressions, and I thought hard about how to do that. I tried to give him eyes that looked a little crazy." He added, "I think I really do make that face in real life. Friends who reached out after watching 〈Husbands in Action〉 said, 'That's totally you.' I think the expressions I make when I'm playing games and hanging out with friends ended up in the film."
〈Husbands in Action〉 was released on Netflix on June 19 and is now streaming.
