Koo Kyo-hwan to Star in 'Buhwalnam: The Red,' Due in September

Action film 〈Buhwalnam: The Red〉 will open in September, distributor Lotte Entertainment said July 28 as it unveiled a new poster.

Lotte Entertainment said on July 28 that 〈Buhwalnam: The Red〉 is an action film about Seok-hwan (Koo Kyo-hwan), a job seeker whose only asset is unfounded confidence. After he discovers he can return to life 72 hours after death, he finds himself pursued by a mysterious group. It is based on the popular Naver Webtoon of the same name.

Koo Kyo-hwan plays Seok-hwan, who grows stronger each time he dies and returns; he takes on his first full-fledged action challenge in the role. The poster released with the announcement shows Koo with striking red hair: scars cut across his face and bullet holes pock the wall behind him, yet Seok-hwan wears a relaxed expression. A tagline reads "I died, but I'm alive," which hints at an action narrative that pushes past its limits.

The supporting cast includes Shin Seung-ho, Kang Ki-young, Kim Si-a and Kim Sung-ryung, actors widely recognized for their strong acting who joined the production in large numbers to enrich the film. Baek directed the film, which was produced by Yong Film, the company behind 〈Believer〉 and 〈The Beauty Inside〉.
