'Possible Love' Set for Sept. 23 Theatrical Release, Nov. 6 Netflix Debut

Netflix released a poster for its original film 〈Possible Love〉 and confirmed its South Korean theatrical release on Sept. 23 and its Netflix debut on Nov. 6.

〈Possible Love〉 follows two couples — a dismissed worker and his wife, and a documentary filmmaker and her husband — who meet while making a documentary and confront very different lives and hidden desires. The film is Lee Chang-dong's first new work in eight years and assembles a strong cast that includes Jeon Do-yeon, Seol Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung and Jo Yeo-jeong.

The newly released poster features a pre-dawn sky lit by the moon and trees swaying in the wind. It shows the dismissed worker's wife Mi-ok (Jeon Do-yeon) and the filmmaker Ye-ji (Jo Yeo-jeong) standing with a camera between them, their peculiar gazes creating taut tension.

The film has already drawn attention from the global film community after earning official invitations to the competition section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival and the Special Presentation section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival. Although it is a Netflix film, it will open in theaters first before streaming.

Lee Chang-dong's 〈Possible Love〉 will open in South Korean theaters on Sept. 23 through distributor NEW, and it will be released on Netflix to about 190 countries worldwide on Nov. 6.
