MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 〈A Bona Fide Killer〉 (Planning: Kwon Seong-chang; written by Kim Eun-hee; directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hoon) has led both ratings and buzz indicators since its premiere, according to newly released July rankings.
According to Good Data Corporation's FUNdex rankings for the fifth week of July, which track the competitiveness of Korean content, 〈A Bona Fide Killer〉 was No. 1 in TV buzz and No. 1 in the TV-OTT drama news category. Lead actress Gong Hyo-jin ranked second in cast buzz for TV-OTT dramas.
By ratings, it has held the No. 1 spot in its Friday-Saturday time slot since the premiere, and it ranked first among all Saturday programs based on the 2054 target rating. It also ranked No. 1 on OTT search platform Kinolights' combined chart for Aug. 2–3.
Episodes 1 and 2 of 〈A Bona Fide Killer〉 followed Yoo Bo-na (played by Gong Hyo-jin), who returned to her post as head of Sales Team 3 at Durumi Electronics after three years of parental leave and resumed operating as the killer "Kingfisher." Her husband, reporter Kwon Tae-seong (played by Jeong Jun-won), was a victim of a past Kingfisher sniper attack, and Lee Dong-jin (played by Lee Sang-yi) found a "Baby Shark" sticker at the shooting scene that matched Yoo Bo-na's belongings.
The episodes also introduced Oh Hyun-nam (played by Ha Yul-ri), a new member of Sales Team 3 and an expert in poisoning, as a witness to the sniper attack on her father, Oh Man-seok (played by Kim Won-hae), 15 years earlier. In episode 2, Oh Hyun-nam administered the poison "Mist S" to Kwon Tae-seong, and Yoo Bo-na drank the poison herself in an effort to save her husband.
Episode 3 of MBC's Friday-Saturday drama 〈A Bona Fide Killer〉 is scheduled to air on Friday, Aug. 7 at 9:50 p.m.
