A detective dad in “all-the-childcare” mode and the wife of a National Intelligence Service agent team up in a twist—targeting global screens

Global streaming platform “Netflix” has officially moved forward with the production of the original family action comedy film “Back-to-Duty Cops”, setting its sights on audiences around the world. The film is expected to deliver a fresh burst of genre thrills by crossing far more than just comedy—mixing the extremes of child-rearing with a crime-busting mission.

In “Back-to-Duty Cops,” a detective, Dong-sik, is swept into an enormous criminal organization crackdown operation almost by accident after he ends up taking on the “all-the-childcare” for five children meant for his wife. The movie presents an unpredictable story built around the collision—and resulting synergy—between everyday family affection and spectacular action scenes.

Actor “Cha Tae-hyun” plays Dong-sik, balancing his demanding detective work with the relentless demands of childcare, proving his signature, intensely life-immersed comedic performance. His wife, Kyung-ah, has been cast with “Uhm Ji-won.” Formerly a police officer, she is portrayed as a layered character who harbors hopes of getting reinstated and is then boldly brought into “the National Intelligence Service.” She is set to drive both the film’s tension and energy at the same time. Meanwhile, the couple’s uncontrollable five kids—Do-young-seo, Kim Na-eun, Jeong Han-sol, Sim Ji-an, and Kim Ra-hee—round out the cast, completing an extreme level of family chemistry.

The megaphone goes to “director Kim Jong-hyeon,” who successfully paired sports and humanism through films “Superstar Thank-you” and “National Representative 2.” With his distinctive warm perspective and storytelling power that creates emotion, the film industry is watching closely to see what new burst of energy he will reveal when his style meets the crime action comedy genre.

Armed with a solid cast and inventive premises, “Back-to-Duty Cops” will be released exclusively to viewers worldwide via “Netflix,” once again proving the staying power of K-comedy in the global content market.
