Jecheon International Music & Film Festival has unveiled the lineup for “JIMFF Special Choice.”

The 22nd Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF), which opens on Sept. 3, announced “JIMFF Special Choice” on Aug. 10. “JIMFF Special Choice” is the festival’s signature performance program that lets audiences experience, up close, the moment when film and music expand beyond each other’s boundaries. This year’s lineup features “Beyond the Frame with Kim Mun-jeong and The M.C Orchestra,” which brings musical theater and film music together on one stage; “Summer Notes by Yoon Jong-shin, Oksangdalbit, and Jung In,” which shares the lingering feeling of summer through music and stories; “RE:SCORE Music that Transcends the Boundaries 〈Jeong Seong-jo〉,” which reexamines the late Jeong Seong-jo’s musical world; and “幕( Curtain ), 판( Stage ),” a finale performance that blends band music with contemporary art.

“Beyond the Frame with Kim Mun-jeong and The M.C Orchestra,” led by Kim Mun-jeong, a music director who represents South Korea in musical theater, with The M.C Orchestra and top-tier local musical ensemble actors, opens its first show on Sept. 4 at 3 p.m. After that, on Sept. 5 at 3 p.m., “Summer Notes by Yoon Jong-shin, Oksangdalbit, and Jung In” will be held, with Yoon Jong-shin, Oksangdalbit, and Jung In sharing, together with audiences, the stories behind the music, films, and narratives they love. On Sept. 6 at 3 p.m., “RE:SCORE Music that Transcends the Boundaries 〈Jeong Seong-jo〉,” which reexamines the body of work of the late Jeong Seong-jo, who led new currents in Korean film music, will be handled by Jeong Jung-hwa, the late Jeong Seong-jo’s son and a jazz musician, as music director. Music critic Jeong Byeong-uk will join as moderator and help shape the stage. Finally, the finale will be “幕( Curtain ), 판( Stage ),” featuring Choo Da-hye and Jastiz, which has reinterpreted the deep narratives of traditional mu-gga through modern sounds such as punk, psychedelic rock, and reggae, alongside NuVis, an agricultural arts creation group that expands sign language and Deaf Culture as artistic languages.

For six days from Sept. 3 to Sept. 8, the 22nd Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, held across Jecheon city, and the “JIMFF Special Choice” stages will be available for reservation on Melon Ticket starting Aug. 11 at 2 p.m.
