Jeongyeon of the K-pop group TWICE, whose birth name is Yoo Jeong-yeon, has left JYP Entertainment, where she has spent years together since her teens, and signed an exclusive contract with Baro Entertainment, which is also home to her older sister, actress Gong Seung-yeon. In doing so, she begins a full-fledged second act in life as an actor beyond being a global idol.

Her sincerity delivered in a handwritten letter: "Another start in a new place" On the 10th, Jeongyeon公開ed an earnest handwritten letter for fans and informed them of her move herself. In the letter, she said, "I’m leaving JYP, which I’ve been with for a long time since my teens, and now I want to try another start in a new place," before carefully introducing the news. She added, "Leaving a familiar place was also scary, but I was able to find the courage because of the members who believed in me and the fandom ONCE." She then expressed deep thanks to the JYP family members who have helped guide her growth over the years, the members who stayed by her side, and the fans.

"TWICE activities are always No. 1" A steadfast team identity Jeongyeon also showed a firm commitment to future group activities, which fans were most worried about when she changed agencies. Since debuting in 2015 and producing countless mega hits, TWICE has risen as one of K-pop’s leading girl groups. The group previously completed full renewals for all members in 2022. Jeongyeon said, "Even though I’m starting a new challenge after moving my base, I will keep the biggest center within me—TWICE—just as steadfastly as now," and added, "As a member, standing in front of ONCE will always come first," reassuring fans.

With full backing from her new agency, where a solid lineup of actors has already been established—including her older sister Gong Seung-yeon, along with Jin Gu, Byeon Woo-seok, Lee Yu-mi, and Park Jung-woo—Jeongyeon will take her acting path under her real name, "Yoo Jeong-yeon."
