The world’s beloved Pokémon intellectual property and Disney+ are joining forces in a high-profile collaboration.
Pokémon and Disney+ team up Disney+ announced that it will exclusively premiere a new animated series based on Japan’s popular Pokémon intellectual property, 〈Pokémon Tales: The Adventure of Sirfetch'd and Pichu〉. The series follows Sirfetch'd and Pichu as they embark on a brave journey to help and protect Pokémon throughout the Galar region.
Produced by stop-motion powerhouse Aardman Studios The project has drawn particular attention because it is being produced by Aardman Studios, the stop-motion animation powerhouse behind 〈Wallace & Gromit〉, 〈Shaun the Sheep〉 and 〈Chicken Run〉. Rather than using the character designs from Aardman’s original works, the project will pair Pokémon’s designs with the studio’s finely detailed visual style, raising questions about the creative synergy the combination will produce.
Disney+ exclusive premiere set for 2027 〈Pokémon Tales: The Adventure of Sirfetch'd and Pichu〉 is scheduled to premiere in 2027 and will be available exclusively on Disney+.
