A cross-border island romance launches a global project

Global streaming platform ‘Disney+’ is taking aim at viewers’ emotions worldwide this fall. The new original series ‘Merry Berry Love’, starring actor ‘Ji Chang-wook’ and Japanese rising star ‘Mio Imada’, premieres worldwide on Oct. 7.

The romance follows Lee Yoo-bin, a Korean spatial planner who loses everything overnight, played by ‘Ji Chang-wook’, and Karin, a farmer in Japan played by ‘Mio Imada’. Against the backdrop of a beautiful island, the two meet and fall in love as if guided by fate. Their story of healing their wounds as two very different people connect in an unfamiliar place is expected to resonate deeply with viewers.

The series is also expected to generate significant synergy as a major global co-production between South Korea’s ‘CJ ENM’ and Japanese terrestrial broadcaster ‘Nippon TV’. Breaking through platform boundaries, it will also air in Japan on ‘Nippon TV’ in a regular Wednesday time slot each week beginning Oct. 7, reaching viewers in both countries simultaneously. The global entertainment industry is watching closely as a polished romance transcending borders and language takes shape.
