Netflix on Sept. 15 released character stills of Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin from 〈Take Charge of My Heart〉, which is set to debut at 5 p.m. on Oct. 9. (Take Charge of My Heart, director Park Su-won, writer Song Yu-chae.)
Planned as a 10-episode series, 〈Take Charge of My Heart〉 is a sparky romantic comedy about a man whose artificial heart battery has drained and a woman with electric powers. It is based on the Naver web novel Take Charge of My Heart (author Haebun) and is produced jointly by New Point and WhyNot Media.
In the newly released stills, Kim Young-kwang transforms into Baek Ho-rang, the executive director of TS Resort and a perfectionist, workaholic third-generation chaebol, showing off sleek styling. Chae Soo-bin plays Na Bo-bae, a drama writer who has been single her whole life because her touch shocks people due to her electric powers. The stills spotlight the fateful meeting between Baek Ho-rang — effectively a human "rubber glove" immune to her electric powers — and Na Bo-bae, a human power bank.
Kim Young-kwang described the series as, "It's a romance with a comic-book sensibility and a distinctive premise." He added, "Chae Soo-bin has such a natural feel for romantic comedy that she made the shoot easy for me." Chae Soo-bin expressed her affection for the role, saying, "It’s a romantic comedy with the kind of appeal audiences already love, plus a charm that’s uniquely ours." She added, "I represented the static-electricity element with curly hair."
The Netflix series 〈Take Charge of My Heart〉 premieres exclusively on Netflix on Oct. 9.
