Hyundai’s ‘The Studio’ reveals 12-year story, documentary film opens… Why 1.3 million people visit each year

Hyundai Motor has brought 12 years of innovation at 'Hyundai Motorstudio' to the screen. The feature-length documentary 'The Studio: From Space on Wheels to Space on Land' officially opens on the 21st.

A cultural melting pot beyond cars: The aesthetics of six locations around the world

Since opening its first location in Seoul in 2014, 'Hyundai Motorstudio' has evolved beyond a conventional vehicle showroom into a multifaceted cultural space that organically connects people, culture and local communities. It has grown into a global destination attracting more than '1.3 million visitors' a year.

The documentary is set at 'six locations' around the world, led by Seoul and including Hanam, Goyang and Busan, as well as Beijing, China, and Senayan Park in Indonesia. It delves deeply into the distinctive architectural value and local character of each space, interweaving the perspectives of designers, architects and visitors to explore the essence of the spaces. The film was directed by 'Jeong Da-woon', who earned critical acclaim for 'The Sea of Itami Jun'.

The film’s artistic merit was recognized early on. Selected as an official invitation to the 18th 'Seoul International Architecture Film Festival', it will receive special screenings at Art House Momo at Ewha Womans University through Oct. 9. From Oct. 8-9, it will also meet audiences in Busan through 'Neighborhood BIFF', a community-focused program of the 'Busan International Film Festival'.

12 years of records examined in special archive exhibition in Busan

An opportunity to explore the philosophy behind the spaces will also be available beyond the screen. Hyundai Motor will hold a special exhibition, 'Hyundai Motorstudio Archive: 12 Years of Records,' at 'Hyundai Motorstudio Busan' from early October through early January next year. The exhibition is expected to offer an immersive look at the untold story of the spaces’ creation, including architectural models and early sketches that have never previously been made public.
