'I'll Quit' by (G)I-DLE's Soyeon sweeps major music charts, sparks 9,800 Reels

'I'll Quit', the title track from (G)'I-DLE's Soyeon's first solo full-length album, has swept major music charts by striking a deep chord with office workers.

According to an announcement by 'Cube Entertainment' on the 21st, 'I'll Quit' topped the daily charts of four music platforms — Melon, Genie, Bugs and Vibe — as of the 19th. It also dominated real-time charts, including 'Top 100' on Melon, South Korea's largest music platform by market share, as well as FLO, demonstrating its powerful reach.

The song turns the deeply relatable subject of 'quitting a job' — something virtually every modern worker carries with them — into a compelling track built around a band sound. Popular entertainer 'Kian84' also made a surprise contribution as the narrator, heightening the song's immersive quality.

(G)'I-DLE's Soyeon, who helped write the song, delivers a cathartic release for MZ-generation office workers through blunt, direct lyrics: "I'll quit. I won't miss a thing. I never intended to work this hard in the first place ... Goodbye, everyone."

The agency said the song "reaffirmed Soyeon's position as a powerhouse in the music market with a subject grounded in reality and lyrics that sharply capture the public's emotions."

The new song's momentum has spread to short-form platforms. Artists from across the entertainment industry — including EX's 'Lee Sang-mi', Jaurim's 'Kim Yoon-ah', comedian 'Heo Kyung-hwan', BTOB's 'Yook Sung-jae', Pentagon, CLASSy's 'Park Bo-eun' and rapper 'Woo Won-jae' — joined the 'I'll Quit' challenge, further fueling the craze.

The buzz helped the song reach No. 1 in Instagram's 'Trending Audio' category, while related 'Reels' videos surpassed 9,800 as of the previous day.
