The film 〈Journey There〉 (Journey There, directed by Kim Jin-yu) has set Oct. 28 as its theatrical release date and unveiled two character posters and a teaser trailer. 〈Journey There〉 is the second feature film from Kim Jin-yu, who directed 〈Bori〉.
〈Journey There〉 follows Chun-hee (Kim Hye-ok), who is preparing for a journey of her own after losing her husband. After moving into a new apartment, she forms unexpected connections, including with Min-jun (Justin Min), a conductor, and settles into a warm new daily life.
The newly released character posters capture each person’s journey. Chun-hee’s poster shows her preparing for a journey of her own, framed by her warm smile and the grand piano her husband left behind. Min-jun’s poster depicts the renowned conductor engrossed in leading an orchestra alongside an airport scene. Played by Justin Min, Min-jun leaves Germany, where he was adopted as a child, and comes to Korea to find his birth mother. There, he forms a special bond with Chun-hee.
The accompanying teaser trailer unfolds through Justin Min’s understated narration. It shows Chun-hee and Min-jun, who meet in their new home, grocery shopping, learning piano and sharing everyday life like a family, building anticipation for the film.
The film won the Korean Film Directors’ Association Plus M Award and the KBS Independent Film Award at the 30th Busan International Film Festival, taking home two prizes. It also earned recognition at home and abroad after winning the New Perspective Award at the 51st Seoul Independent Film Festival and receiving an invitation to the competition section of the 48th Moscow International Film Festival. The film is drawing particular attention as the first Korean movie to feature Korean American actor Justin Min in a leading role. Min is known for the Netflix series 〈The Umbrella Academy〉 and the film 〈After Yang〉.
〈Journey There〉, starring Kim Hye-ok, Justin Min, Gong Min-jung and Park Dae-ho, will open in South Korean theaters on Oct. 28.
