Lowering the barrier to art: The appeal of short films woven into everyday life

'Busan International Short Film Festival' (BISFF) is bringing a special screening program directly to areas underserved by culture. The BISFF office announced Tuesday that it will launch 'Traveling Moonlight Theater', a free film screening project, next month at 16 venues across Busan, including welfare centers, libraries and community centers.

The project serves a public-interest purpose: narrowing the cultural gap by providing high-quality short films at '0 won' to residents of areas where geographic and environmental factors have limited opportunities to enjoy culture and the arts.

The lineup was carefully selected from acclaimed works praised by both critics and audiences. In particular, 'Bean Sprouts', directed by 'Yoon Ga-eun', will meet audiences once again after making headlines at the 31st BISFF by sweeping the festival's youngest acting award and the audience award. Other films with distinctive perspectives will also fill the screens, including 'An Oversensitive Visit', winner of the audience award in the Korean Competition; 'Wings', winner of the Operation Kino Best Picture Award; and 'Simsu Sang-eung', winner of the Excellence Award.

Screenings will take place in a variety of everyday spaces across Busan. Audiences can enjoy a cinematic experience without the burden of traveling far from home.

• Busanjin-gu: Dasarang Culture Complex, Gamgogae Park, Jeonpo General Welfare Center

• Geumjeong-gu: Namgwangjae Senior Support Center, Geumjeong-gu Senior Welfare Center

• Saha-gu and Sasang-gu: Youth Culture Center, Mora General Welfare Center

• Other areas: Cinebaum in Yeonje-gu, Dububiji in Suyeong-gu, Busan Social Welfare Center in Dongnae-gu, West Busan Video and Media Center in Gangseo-gu, Busan Municipal Gudeok Library in Seo-gu, Gijang General Welfare Center in Gijang-gun, Cheonghak 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Yeongdo-gu, Space Oneji, Busan Arts High School
