The evolution of Korea's only one-act drama series, with variations in music and narrative
'KBS' has unveiled the lineup for its 2TV series 'Drama Special 2026', promising to leave a lasting impression on viewers in homes across the country at the end of the year. KBS said on the 14th that this season will feature eight 'one-act dramas'.
The central theme running through this year's 'Drama Special 2026' is 'Sound: Track'. Using the diverse songs people encounter by chance or by necessity in everyday life as a narrative device, the series will portray stories of love, separation and personal growth in rich detail. Its combination of music and drama creates a multidimensional production that engages viewers' ears and eyes at the same time.
The eight works scheduled for this season are:
'You, More Than the Scent of Spring' (Nov. 18)
'After the Play Ends' (Nov. 19)
'When My Loneliness Calls for You' (Nov. 26)
'Bye, Summer' (Dec. 2)
'Reminiscence' (Dec. 3)
'The Annals' (Dec. 9)
'Lie, Lie, Lie' (Dec. 10)
'Autumn Morning' (Dec. 16)
The series premieres on the 18th of next month and runs through Dec. 16. Except for Nov. 25, episodes will air regularly at 9:50 p.m. every Wednesday and at 10 p.m. every Thursday, setting an emotional tone for late-night viewers.
The 'KBS one-act drama' series, which began in 1984 under the name 'Drama Game', is marking its 42nd year. Despite a broadcast environment that can easily become overly focused on commercial considerations, it has faithfully served as a 'gateway' for discovering new directors, writers and promising actors, helping strengthen the foundation of South Korea's drama industry.
