A bank clerk with no credentials rises up and tears down the walls of entrenched power
Actors Jang Ki-yong and Oh Jung-se face off in an office drama about cutthroat workplace politics. MBC officially announced that its new Friday-Saturday drama, 'The Rules of the Line,' starring the two actors, will air in the first half of next year.
Jang Ki-yong takes on the role of Tak Do-il, a master of office politics who methodically dismantles the workplace power structure despite being labeled a graduate of a regional university. The role marks a new transformation for the actor. Opposing him is Oh Jung-se as Cheon Gyeong-ho, vice president of the sales group at Nara Bank and a leading candidate to become its next bank president. Drawing on his solid acting skills, Oh is set to heighten the drama's tension and engage in a fierce battle of wits with Tak Do-il.
The production team said, "The drama will meticulously portray how a so-called bank clerk with no connections through school or hometown shakes up a massive banking organization with his signature resourcefulness and uncanny political savvy."
The creative team is also impressive. The script is by writer Eun Gi-baek, while director Kim Sung-yong, who has demonstrated his exceptional directing skills on 'The Veil' and 'My Dearest,' will take the helm. Writer Kang Eun-kyung, who helped make seasons 1 through 3 of 'King of Baking, Kim Takgu' and 'Dr. Romantic' successful, is also joining as creator, further boosting the drama's quality and credibility.
